Minnesota Twins Baseball Club reduces maintenance costs at target field by using Biosignal key technology

The Challenge: Annual Hot Water Heater Maintenance

Maintaining large-scale water heating systems can be time-consuming and costly. At Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, a simple innovation has transformed the way the facility manages its four Steam Domestic Hot Water Heaters (DHWH).

For over 12 years, the Twins relied on a contractor to perform an annual teardown of their DHWH units. This process involved:

“Each year, tube bundles were acid-soaked, tanks cleaned, and coatings reapplied every 4 years. It was a week-long effort costing about $2,000 per tank.”
— Ryan Rikkola, Sr. Facilities Engineer, Minnesota Twins Baseball Club

This process, while effective, was labor-intensive, costly, and disruptive.

The Solution: Installing the NAWT Collar

In March of last year, the Twins installed the NAWT 4” Collar on the water feed pipeline for their DHWH units. This simple installation had an immediate impact:

“Overall, the NAWT collar is great at reducing scale and will save us time and money. It was simple to install and does all that it claims to do.”
— Ryan Rikkola

It is important to note that the effect of the rings is only possible thanks to WELLAN 2000®’s proprietary biosignal technology, which is also used in the NAWT Collar. This innovative technology was discovered by Klaus Wagner, which is why WELLAN 2000® precedes the NAWT Collar in both development and performance.

Why WELLAN 2000® Works

WELLAN 2000® technology uses ultrafine vibrations to prevent limescale, corrosion, and bacterial growth—without chemicals, electricity, or magnets. It is effective in both stagnant and fast-flowing water, making it ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

The Result: Time, Money, and Maintenance Savings

With the WELLAN 2000® collar, Target Field has significantly reduced maintenance time and costs while protecting its hot water systems. Facilities managers seeking a maintenance-free, cost-effective solution to scale and corrosion, WELLAN 2000® proves to be a game-changer—just ask the Minnesota Twins.
